What role(s) did your later educational experiences play in where you are now academically? What curricular and extracurricular experiences shaped your outlook, goals, and abilities? Who were your most influential teachers and/or coaches? Why?
I went to one of the top high schools in my province. Students competed with each other strongly. I was a top three student in my junior high school, but when I entered this famous high school, I found almost everyone was the best student in their local place. It was exciting, but lots of pressure too.
I didn't quite adopt to the environment there and became less confident at that time. I was good at English and Chinese, but did poor in physic and math. I like Chinese so much because my Chinese teacher Mrs Yang. She was a teacher full of energy. Every time she entered the classroom, she greeted us in a passionate voice. I wondered how she could keep her passion every day. You would never get bored in her class, she took every class as a opportunity to express herself and help us. Her positive energy was like the sunshine shed in my life. Another reason I love her so much was that she was sensitive and she could sensed out what was going on among students. There was a time I became repelled against study. No teacher found but she. She talked to me, she praised me for my excellent job in English and Chinese. She encouraged me to focus on what I was good at and made full use of it. She suggested me to do some writings and teaching Chinese jobs later in the future. That was the first time I heard that I could teach Chinese to foreigners. Though she might just want to show me one possibility, I remembered and I began to pay attention to this area.
I have to say Mrs.Yang has changed me a lot in a lot of aspects. Her attitude towards teaching made me to think how I would treat my job in the future and what spiritual outlook I should show to the world. The answer is that I will show my passion and love to people around me. I will try to affect them by my positive energy. In seeking for a job, I will choose a job I like rather than a job I don't like even with high salary. I will also try to dig shining points of myself other than looking for short-comings all the time. I will try to study in the area I am capable with and try to do a better job.
